So, a big thank you to you all :)
"I engaged Sandrine for a few months to kickstart me off to a new exercise regime. I found her very helpful to regain my motivation and help me through when I found it hard to stick to my goals. With her constant encouragement i very quickly accelerated to maintain a running routine and general weight and stretching exercises. Sandrine was very understanding to the challenges of a “middle-aged”, sometimes very stressed and not very confident woman and I’m very thankful that with her gentle manner, but steely determination she helped me getting back on the road to continuous exercising. Thank you soo much!!" Gudrun

Being over 40 and feeling amazing...!!!
The younger we start exercising the better it is, BUT it is never too late to give it a go, especially approaching the 40's which for women can be a particularly defining times in our lives. It is a new path that some of us have to deal with more than others, but for all of us it will be a path of big changes. Regular exercise and a healthy lifestyle will ensure that we are feeling our best, and are prepared for what can be a challenging time.
The fact I'm over 40 myself helps me to understand how it feels to be in this age group. All women will have, at one stage, to face the pre-menopause symptoms and the menopause itself. Doing sport is the BEST way to get stronger, healthier and to be ready to get through feeling good. Exercising regularly will help to :
- prevent osteoporosis,
- reduce bad cholesterol,
- drop the risk of cardiovascular diseases,
- reduce some side effects of the menopause like hot flushes, sleeplessness, tiredness, mood troubles etc.
Women over 40 lose 1% of their muscle mass per year, by 50 we could potentially lose 10% of our muscle mass!!! Scary... but not irreversible!
You will have to combine cardio activity and strength training for a greater success (all weight bearing exercise such as walking, jogging, hiking, dancing, step aerobic, biking, tennis, etc etc... are essential for building and maintaining healthy bones). Strength training increases the muscle mass, burns calories, boosts the metabolism and also improves the balance and the flexibility. Each pound of muscle added to your body will increase your fat burning capacity and will help to prevent the bone loss (osteoporosis) and other diseases or conditions. Also, Losing weight (if needed) or keeping your weight in check will allow to remove pressure on your joints (for 1 pound weight loss, 4 pounds of pressure on a joint is removed!)
Without a doubt being fit is a huge advantage for our health whatever our age or gender, but probably even more so for women over 40.

Underneath button : article about the health benefits of eating soya and its good impacts on menopause symptoms. (Soya food you buy should always be whole, organic and fermented like miso, tempeh, tofu, soy milk, and edamame, and should also be non processed which includes soy protein isolate and concentrates, genetically engineered soy foods (typically made from Monsanto’s Roundup soybeans), soy supplements, and soy junk foods like soy cheese, soy ice cream, soy oil, and soy burgers)
